Guidelines and additional information for adding your music...
1. You
must be a current member of the JazzWest Directory to add your music to our website
JazzWest.com is dedicated to
celebrating the San Francisco Bay Area and Northern California jazz scene exclusively. As such, we can
only host music from artists in the Northern California area (sorry, Detroit... you'll have to get your
own website).
Not a member of the JazzWest Directory
yet? Click here to
join; it's easy, it's cool, and it's free! Give us a few days to process your Directory request, and then
revisit the Submissions page
to add your music to the mix...
2. We're
here to help you sell your music!
In addition to your free listing in
the JazzWest Directory, this feature is being provided as a way for JazzWest.com visitors to hear your music
before buying your CDs or attending one of your live shows.
Be sure to include a link to wherever
your music is being sold online (iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, your own website, etc.). Simply copy and paste the
complete URL for your online music so we can point listeners in the right direction!
Example:
 http://cdbaby.com/cd/albumname
3. We only
feature full-length MP3 digital music files
All music must be in MP3 format,
and must be full-length tracks (no 30-second samples from iTunes, Amazon, CD Baby, etc.). We prefer music from your
most recent release, although older, live and/or unreleased material will also be considered.
Recording quality of your music
should ideally be 128 to 192 kbps.
What about Flash files? Some websites have
music files that are embedded in Flash players. That won't work; we need the real-deal MP3 files only. Sorry.
What about M3U files? Well, M3Us are
really plain text files that contain the filenames of your digital music in their original MP3 formats. To get the
true MP3 filename, open the M3U file with either your web browser or a plain text editor, and copy the embedded MP3
filename to the proper field on the
Submissions page.
4. You must
keep digital music files and CD cover art on your own server or website
JazzWest simply doesn't have the
storage space to host your files, so any music or graphics you provide us must be already located
somewhere on your own website.
Simply copy and paste the complete
URL of your online music file or artwork into the appropriate field on the Submissions page.
Examples:
 http://www.mywebsite.com/music/mysong.mp3
http://www.mywebsite.com/images/myalbumcover.jpg
Don't have a website where your music
is hosted? JazzWest.com can host your music files on our website for a one-time charge of
$25 per music file. Please contact us for more information...
5. Once you've completed our
online Submission form, you will NOT be able to change your information.
Be sure to double-check all the info you
submit for accuracy and spelling. Once you submit your digital music listing, you'll get a preview of what it will
look like. If you see that you've made a mistake anyway (hey, nobody's perfect), please contact us immediately so we can try and fix the error...
although it may take us a few days to make any corrections, and in the meantime your information will remain
incorrect.
