The music and musicians of Brazilian jazz are the centerpiece of the 11th annual Healdsburg Jazz Festival, set for May 29 through June 7, 2009.
Among the featured performers at this year's festival: Dee Dee Bridgewater; Randy Weston's African Rhythms Quartet; a "Bay Area Legends" double bill with pianist Denny Zeitlin and the John Handy Quintet; the Esperanza Spaulding Quartet; the Julian Lage Group; a "Stars of Brazil" tribute to Antonio Carlos Jobim, featuring Tononho Horta, with Santi Debriano, Billy Hart, and special guest Airto; Trio De Paz with Romero Lubambo, Nilson Matta and Dudeka Da Fonseca; Leny Andrade with the Stephanie Ozer Ensemble; and the Montclair Women's Big Band.
The 11th annual North Bay jazz festival kicks off with a gala Dinner, Dance and Auction on Friday, May 8.
