Yoshi's Jazz Club and Restaurant in San Francisco will be hosting a benefit concert and dining extravaganza on behalf of the American Red Cross and its effort to aid the people of the earthquake- and tsunami-ravished Japan.

On Saturday, April 9, 13 celebrated Bay Area chefs will gather in the kitchen of the Fillmore Street restaurant and nightclub for an afternoon filled with delicious food, great wine and sake, all accompanied by live musical entertainment.

Yoshi's Executive Chef Sho Kamio will be joined by Hiro Sone and Lissa Doumani (Terra and Ame), Bruce Hill (Bix, Picco and Zero Zero), Chris Cosentino (Incanto, Boccalone), Staffan Terje (Perbacco and Barbacco), Ravi Kapur (Prospect), Paul Canales (ex-Oliveto), Ken Tominaga (Hana and Go Fish), Joseph Manzare (Hecho, Globe and Zuppa), Hoss Zare (Zaré at Fly Trap), Michael Morrison (Moss Room and Coco 500) and Yasu Iwata (Delica).

To further celebrate the inter-connection between the Bay Area and Japanese culture, Grammy-nominated Anthony Brown's Asian American Jazz Orchestra will be providing live music entertainment featuring prominent Bay Area musicians including Mark Izu, Jon Jang, Wayne Wallace, Francis Wong and many more, with special guests the Murasaki Ensemble, Rhythmix Taiko, and SambaAsia.

Also present at the event will be the American Red Cross, including Harold Brooks, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter, as well as members of the Bay Area Ogawa family who, through crowdrise and Hands For Japan, have challenged the public to raise $1,000,000 for relief efforts in Japan.

For every tax-deductible dollar donated, the Ogawa family will match the contribution dollar for dollar up to $500,000. Members of the Ogawa family will be at Yoshi's San Francisco to speak about their efforts. A silent auction will take place during the relief benefit with many special treats and surprises.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $75 per person, available on the Yoshi's website. All proceeds will go to the American Red Cross for Japan Relief.
