The 2010 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival, which takes place through
the end of September, features
over 100 free events including music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, family festivals and children's programs.
There's also plenty of jazz, including
John Worley's WorlView, the Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet, Italian jazz singer Irene Jalenti, the Indian
jazz group VidyA, and trumpeter Khalil Shaheed's Mo' Rockin' Project.
"I am proud to present in such a beautiful San Francisco location the finest performing artists of the Bay Area and
beyond" says the festival's Executive/Artistic Director, Linda Lucero. "In the light of our economic climate, I expect Yerba Buena Gardens Festival to be the very first stop for Bay Area audiences looking for top-quality cultural programs, all absolutely free of charge."
Yerba Buena Gardens is located in the heart
of San Francisco's SoMa district, between Mission, Howard, Third and Fourth streets. Concerts take place in the Esplanade near
the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts (which is not, incidentally, affiliated with this free music series).
The dance concerts
take place at Jessie Square (in front of the Contemporary Jewish Museum).
