Local music fans are gearing up for warm weather and smooth sounds with the arrival of Stanford Shopping
Center's 25th annual Summer Jazz Series.
This summer's free (as in "no
admission") Thursday evening concert series includes performances by Lavay Smith and Her Red Hot Skillet Lickers, Times 4,
Weather Wayne with saxophonist Michael Zilber, and the Django Reinhart-influenced gypsy jazz group Le Jazz Hot Quartet.
The ten-week concert series is hosted by Stanford Shopping Center and produced by SFJAZZ, a leading non-profit jazz organization on the West Coast.
The series is presented by See's Candies, Gentry Magazine, wheretraveler.com and C Magazine.
The concerts, which run from 6 to 7.30 pm
every Thursday evening from June 16 to August 18, will be emceed by Clifford Brown, Jr., and take place at the Clock Tower Plaza (near
the Neiman Marcus and Williams-Sonoma Home stores) in the Stanford Shopping Center.
