San Jose Jazz celebrates its annual winter
season of afternoon jazz concerts on
January 17, 2010 with celebrated big band jazz singer Robin McKelle, and continues through a final March 21 performance with Antonio
Sanchez.
Also
appearing at this year's concert series at The
Improv nightclub in downtown San Jose, are a "Sax Blowout" with Bari Bari (a three-baritone sax section
featuring Aaron Lington, Fil Lorenz and Geoff Roach, along with trumpeter and fluegelhornist John Worley,
keyboardist Murray Low, bassist Tom Bockhold and drummer Curt Moore); award-winning composer, arranger and
saxophonist John Altman's musical narrative "Jazz Goes to the Movies," and chanteuse Pamela Rose, who brings
the music of women songwriters — particularly songwriters of the Tin Pan Alley and classic blues eras — to the stage on
Valentine's Day.
