The Robert Mondavi Winery and the Napa Valley Jazz Society
have announced a new series of live jazz performances at the winery. Christened Jazz@RMW,
the new partnership will present two concerts a year, one in the Spring and one in the Fall, in the winery's Vineyard Room.
The newly named Jazz@RMW series will kick off Sunday, March
24, 2013, at 4 pm with pianist Cyrus Chestnut, one of the most exciting performers on the jazz scene today.
"I am so excited to see a regular series of classic modern
jazz at the Robert Mondavi Winery," said Margrit Biever Mondavi, champion of the summer concert series and a driving force for the
arts at the winery and throughout the Napa Valley.
"The artistic standards of the Robert Mondavi Winery have
always been very high," noted Bill Hart, president of the Jazz Society. "The Jazz Society takes great pride in being chosen
to work with RMW on this series. The venue is outstanding, and it gives greater accessibility to our Up Valley members, while being easy to
reach from Napa. With Cyrus Chestnut, our colleague Dick Danne, event producer, has scored one of the very best to kick off this new
phase of our relationship with RMW."
Looking out on the beautiful To Kalon vineyards, and equipped with
a Steinway grand piano, the winery's Vineyard Room offers an ideal setting for an afternoon of great jazz. Each concert will be preceded by a
wine, cheese and charcouterie reception for ticket holders hosted by the winery.
Robert Mondavi Winery, a Napa Valley icon, has been a major
supporter of food, wine, and the arts through the years. Its long-running Summer Music Festival has included many of the most prominent
names in jazz. The Jazz@RMW series is an outgrowth of several successful concerts at the winery presented by the Napa Valley Jazz Society
over its first three years. Beginning in 2010 with renown jazz drummer Jeff Hamilton and his trio, NVJS presentations in the Vintage
Room have included the great jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell and acclaimed jazz vocalist Paula West.
The Napa Valley Jazz Society was founded at the beginning of 2010 to reinvigorate the
Napa Valley jazz scene. As a 501c3, with approximately 400 members and several notable sponsors and community partners, the Society presents
performances by local and national musicians and supports local jazz education. The monthly NVJS Parlor Jazz series gives its patrons the experience of the
highest quality live jazz shows in intimate small clubs and parlor-like settings up and down the Valley.
Tickets may be purchased online at the Jazz Society's website,
