Don’t miss the
Petaluma Wine, Jazz & Blues Festival on Saturday, August
29, 2009. This year, the second annual festival will share
proceeds from this annual event among Petaluma's
elementary and secondary schools to provide funding for
their music programs.
In addition to a full day of music featuring
bluesman Charlie Musselwhite, legendary keyboardist
Booker T. Jones, blues guitarist Joe Louis
Walker, and the Peter Welker Sextet featuring Jeff
Oster at the Marin Fairgrounds in Petaluma, this
year's celebration kicks off with a gala Opening Night
performance on Friday, August 28, featuring the Pete
Escovedo Latin Jazz Orchestra at McNear's Mystic
Theatre.
There
will also be a street fair featuring a variety of fine art paintings, specialty food vendors, and additional music spread throughout the Theater Square District and
open to the general public. Festival attendees will have in-and-out privileges to go between the public and festival-only areas.
All proceeds of the festival will benefit the music education programs of all Petaluma area schools. The non-profit festival is sponsored by the Petaluma High School Music Boosters and the Petaluma Area Chamber of Commerce.
