The San Francisco Filipino American Jazz Festival celebrates
its second year with a concert at the Forum at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in conjunction with the 16th Annual Pistahan Parade and Festival
at Yerba Buena Gardens.
This year's festival will be held on August 8, 2009, from 5-9
pm.
Appearing at the second annual festival are acclaimed Filipino
singer and songwriter Mon David, LA-based pianist Tateng Katindig, Bay Area flautist John Calloway, and
singer/pianist Anna Maria Flechero.
There will also be afternoon jazz performances August 8-9 in
Yerba Buena Gardens as part of the Pistahan Parade and Festival. Featured performers include Raquel, Ann
Marie Santos, and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Abe Lagrimas.
There's also a "sneak peek" and benefit performance for
the festival on Friday, June 12 at Club Anton, 428 - 3rd Street, in Oakland. Doors open at 7 pm, and the music
begins at 8.
The SF Filipino American Jazz Festival is a collaboration among the
Filipino American National Historical Society-SF Bay Area Consortium, the 16th Annual Pistahan Parade and Festival, the San Francisco Filipino
Cultural Center, and Philippine American Writers and Artists, Inc.
